  • hey luvs,

I don't recall if I mentioned this but the plumbing in my apartment was having some serious issues. The kitchen sink would have dirty, gross, smelly water bubble UP into the sink from the pipes before slowly draining back out; the loo was having increasing flushing difficulties; and the tub, bathroom sink, and kitchen sink, would have water come out in spurts for the first few moments after turning the tap on.
My landlady (I think her name is Wendy?) told me that the plumber would be arriving Thursday morning while I was in school, but then that evening she notified me that he wasn't able to make it due to an emergency and would be arriving at 8am Friday. I was not overly pleased to hear that I had to get up two hours earlier than I needed to, but c'est la vie.
I contemplated going back to sleep for another fifteen minutes or so but I knew I'd have to have my shower before the plumber arrived so I forced myself out of bed at 730 when my alarm went off. After my shower, doing my hair, and getting dressed it was just after 8am but the plumber hadn't knocked yet. I made breakfast and did up the dishes; no plumber. I packed my schoolbag and tidied up a bit; no plumber. I checked my emai, twitter, and facebook; no plumber. I downloaded christmas music onto my computer so I could transfer it to my Mp3 and then went through my entire playlist to remove songs that I was bored listening to; still no plumber.
By this time it is nearly 10am and I had to catch a bus -school field trip- so I quickly notified the landlady that I had to leave (questions on our final exam will be from today's trip!) and ran out the door and down the street to the bus stop. Sadly, in those TWO FREAKING HOURS of waiting for the plumber I did NOT think to check the weather report. It was beyond cold out and even snowing and all I had on over my sweater was a jean jacket and scarf. Thankfully I keep mittens in all my coat pockets so I had those as well.

Our field trip was to Magazines Canada and, as those of you who have been following me since September know, that is where I had my somewhat lamentable job-shadow day. I was one of the first to arrive as I gave myself fifteen minutes spare time for getting lost but, as I'd been there before, I managed to keep myself on track. They provided coffee (blech!) and donuts (double chocolate *yum*) for us while waiting for the others to arrive.
Turns out most of the others arrived early but went to a nearby coffee shop until it was time to be there so they paid for what they could have gotten free *snickers*  The presentation was pretty much what I already knew from my job-shadowing, just with a bit more detail but said so fast I wasn't able to keep up while taking notes (exam questions, remember?). Then we were let loose in the warehouse to grab all the back issues of magazines we wanted. Since I had a lot of magazines from my previous trip there I told myself I'd only pick up one or two but they had more issues of Dance Current and Dance International that I couldn't resist!  Also it didn't help that some of my classmates were like "oh a dance magazine, here you go!" and passing them to me *L0L*
It turns out that the plumber arrived sometime between 10am and 12:30pm because there was evidence of his presence when I got back from MagCan: I had left my entrance light as my apartment is pretty dark on grey days but it was off when I got in. My bathroom sink was dirty and the garbage can full of crumpled paper towels. My bath tub had grit sitting in the bottom, my "floor towel" (for when I step out of the shower) was soaking wet and in the bottom of the tub. My shower curtain and bath towel (I have no rack and so hang it over the rod) were scrunched up at one end. My kitchen sink was clean but one of my scrubbies was wadded up in a ball and left on the counter and my paper towel roll was empty.
Anyhoo, I'm exhausted from my long day so I think I will make myself something to eat, have a nap, and then later work on my feature assignment. The feature is worth about 40% of my mark but it isn't going very well so I'm a touch worried about it. I really should have worked on it more prior to this weekend as it is due on Monday but it figures that I'd rather be reading a novel :0P Keep your fingers crossed that it turns out well because I have been having some difficulties with it.
