Curiosity Poll
I started attending a Bible Study last week, and we are reading the book "Called and Committed" by David Watson. In this book it says that a quarter of the world's population professes to be Christian, so I started wondering what the ratio of xangians is for various religions (or agnostic or atheist). I would like everyone who happens to read this post to answer the three questions below, BUT you must not make any comments against other people's beliefs. If you would like to rec this so a larger group of people answer these questions, feel free to do so.
(1) What belief system do you hold to? (If a denomination, include that in your answer)
(2) How long have you believed this way?
(3) Why did you choose that religion or non-religious belief?

Oh, joy! I get to answer first! But before I do, did you know that
because of the size of the population, India has more Muslims than the
"Muslim countries" and a huge number of Christians as well. They are,
however a Hindu country. That's what happens when you have more than 1 1/4
billion people...
So:
1. My belief system is not generally known. There is a larger power
than ourselves, but I do not hang that 'hat' upon a god. Maybe it is
"Life" if it needs a name.
2. For over 25 years.
3. For many reasons, but the last one was because of a discussion held
(and I can't really remember who I was talking to) about Christian God
being All Knowing, All Powerful and All Loving. I can see two of the
three happening, but not all three being held with the way life is.
That coupled with man being the primary creator of religion and what has
been done in the name of religion and not wanting my name to be
associated with what has been done.
So, we teach about many religious traditions (especially around the
light festival time) in our house. Interestingly enough most religions
have celebrations around the same times.
1. baptist is my faith that i grew up with. I wish I had stronger faith in it though. I do believe that we need to love one another, treat all with respect, care for those who need it and those who don't.
2. - well 20 years, the last 10 years have been filled up with confusion and the lack of faith towards Christians.
3. i grew up in a christian home and was taught that was the right way. As i grew older i realized that there were some flaws in the religion or rather, there were some christians who didn't follow it or took their faith too far, often losing their way and becoming evil. i couldnt handle it. so i stepped away.
